Watton v Holt United
HOLT UNITED PLAY IN THE ANGLIAN COMBINATION DIVISION 1

Watton 1-4 Holt United         13/10/07

HOLT UNITED visited unbeaten Watton United and welcomed back defender Gavin Neale from Cromer. Manager Jim Blandford also started sixteen year old Toby Blowers up front alongside Colm McGilway. Holt started brightly and took an early lead when the ball was played into Blowers and he turned his defender and flicked the ball up before volleying home to score a tremendous goal. Watton drew level on the half hour mark with a stunning strike from twenty yards by their influential captain Paul Woods. Watton had come into the game more as the half ended and this pressure carried on into the second period. Holt defended stoutly with the Thompson brothers, Steven and David, James Medlar and Neale all looking solid with keeper Justyn Goff behind them looking sound. On the hour mark Holt regained their lead. Holt skipper Kevin Moore gained possession in the Watton area only to be brought down by Scott Cruikshank in the home goal. Cruikshank was then given little chance by the resulting powerful penalty kick from Moore. Midway through the half Matthew Sanders replaced Blowers who had received a knock. As the game came to its close Watton pushed hard for an equaliser. With five minutes left the ball was played wide to Sanders who did exceptionally well to hold off the challenge from a home defender before slipping the ball comfortably past Cruikshank to make the score 3-1 in Holt’s favour. Two minutes later a fine ball from Moore set Sanders away again and his power and composure allowed him to score his second of the match. This excellent 4-1 away victory against a previously unbeaten side moves Holt up to fifth place in the table.
